Sabatino's North, Derry, New Hampshire, Off to a good start in new digs

We have driven by Sabatino's North at their old Derry location waiting to try the restaurant until they moved into their new digs on East Broadway, a much larger space, in the former spot of Depot Square Steakhouse. The wait is finally over and after hearing that they had opened we ventured in to see the changes they made to the existing space and to check out the food (naturally).

As you walk in to Sabatino's North it looks like they have gone with a Tuscan feel, the ceilings are dark, yellow walls with dark yellowish hanging lamps throughout and large windows to let the light in.

It is one large room with a long bar on one side and a mix of small and large tables sprinkled throughout the other end. They took up a lot of table space with this large bar and we will have to see how this works out when they are very busy on weekends. Should they have gone with more tables instead of bar space? Only time will tell.

We arrived on a fairly busy Saturday night so we found seats in the small waiting area. We had a short wait and were seated pretty quickly. Our waitress stopped by and we ordered a couple of drinks, I went with the house Chianti that was good and my wife had the white grape Cosmo that she indicated was excellent. A small loaf of warm white bread arrived and it was nicely prepared.

We looked over what seemed to me like a small menu which includes a lot of the usual Italian favorites and some specialties. You will find pasta dishes made with chicken, veal or seafood along with steaks and chops. For the appetizer we decided on the stuffed mushrooms that had a simple breadcrumb stuffing. I'm normally not a big mushroom fan but even I have to admit they were very good.

For dinner, I decided on something different - chicken braciolettini with pasta. These are rolled chicken stuffed with prosciutto ham and cheese in a light olive oil sauce. Meanwhile, my wife chose the chicken campagna which is prepared with roasted red peppers, onions and potatoes. We were not disappointed.
Since this was a new restaurant to us, we decided to sample the tiramisu for dessert. It was fabulous.

Our service was friendly and efficient, good job.

So there you have it, overall this was a pleasant first dining experience at Sabatino's North, they are off to a good start in their new digs. For those of you that live in the Wakefield, MA area, they have a second location there.
