St. Patrick's Day grub at The Peddler's Daughter

With less than three weeks until St. Patrick's Day, the timing seemed just right to check in at an Irish pub. The Peddler's Daughter in Nashua was our destination though we’ve visited before it’s been a few years so we headed out to find authentic Irish food.

Zeroing in on the best of their food you should try the beer battered fish and chips. Several chunks of fried haddock wrapped in newspaper that is cooked just right with hand cut fries. Served with homemade ketchup and tartar sauce it is no surprise that this is a customer favorite.

Bavarian pretzels were a special and our appetizer pick. These were nicely browned contrasted by a soft inner texture. After dunking in a light airy cheese sauce we enjoyed these and only wish there had been more.

Skipping to the end briefly we chose their homemade bread pudding. The toppings were fresh whipped cream and caramel sauce. This had a slightly sweet flavor and should satisfy any of your dessert cravings.

And finally the Guinness beef stew was a bit of a disappointment. My original serving had to be redone as the temperature was lukewarm at best. Additionally, the broth was watery and lacked a strong beef flavor. Maybe there was a problem with the thickening agent or the stew just needed to be cooked longer. Either way I am confident they would do better next time.

The Peddler's Daughter is an option for those looking for decent pub grub and a place to go for St. Patrick's Day. They have a full bar, live music on weekends and an interior that will give you a feeling of a visit to Ireland.
