A visit to the River Road Tavern, Bedford, New Hampshire, A fun place

I love new places and had heard of this new tavern on River Road so we decided to give it a try. As you walk in think of a big room with a bunch of tables almost like picnic tables and a bar with a lot of brown wood everywhere and you will understand what I mean. The area is large without much else in it, except for a few large televisions and a fire place.

We went to one of the open tables and the first thing I noticed as we sat down was that they weren’t very comfortable, ouch! No cushion, just a wooden bench. I’m begging you, I understand you’re just a tavern but can you please spend some money on chairs that don’t hurt after 5 minutes.

We decided to have a drink and I was pleased to see that they had Long Trail in a bottle (one of my favorites) and my companion got a pomegranate martini, it was okay but nothing to write home about. They also had an extensive list of draft beers if you partake in such things.

The menu is small and included Kobe burgers, French fries and some appetizers like chicken wings. Although we weren’t planning to eat anything, at the recommendation of our waitress we decided to try the Kobe beef sliders. Um, give me a whole platter. I had to admit that they were very good, tender meat with smothered onions on top. There was a mustard sauce that accompanied the sliders that I didn’t particularly like and honestly, the sliders are good enough on their own.

The wait staff was efficient and friendly, keep up the good work.

What I really noticed and makes me want to recommend The River Road Tavern as I looked around was that everyone at every table was laughing and seemed to be having a great time. Despite little atmosphere, a small menu and uncomfortable chairs, they are what they are, a tavern with no frills, in other words a fun place to get a bite to eat, have a few drinks with friends and relax.
