The best hamburger in New Hampshire

I wish I loved salad as much as I love hamburgers. There I said it. In fact, if I’d be guaranteed to not gain an incredible amount of weight, I would eat them all the time. So instead, I have to pick and choose the places that are worthy of this caloric delight. We have been to all the typical places that you are probably familiar with (including burger chains) but there is one that stands above the rest for us.

Back in February of 2012 when my wife and I first visited the River Road Tavern in Bedford, we ordered the hamburger sliders and I was blown away at how good they were so much so that I wrote about our visit. I mentioned this to my wife and she didn’t remember but I sure did. Then, several months ago we happened to be back and ordered a couple of their hamburgers and I was so pleased that the full size version was as tasty as the sliders. I asked my wife what she thought and she also agreed. The more I thought about it the more I realized that these were the best hamburgers in New Hampshire that I have tried so far.

Over this past weekend we decided to visit the River Road Tavern again for another try to confirm our thinking. Good thing the burgers were delicious as it almost made up for watching the Patriots lose their opening game against Miami.

We found out that the beef they use is brought in from Colorado and you can tell the difference between this and regular ground beef. While the grilled bun is very good too, the star of this is the meat, plain & simple. With a perfect balance of marbling throughout you won't even need ketchup, unless, of course, you’re my wife.

What are some of your favorite New Hampshire hamburgers? Please let us know and we'll try to sample them all!
