A very busy interior awaited us where they expanded what had been a small food store into something much bigger with a lot more goodies. I noticed a cafe in the back and went over to look over the menu. This was their new farm to table restaurant, the Applecrest Farm Bistro that has been open about a year. Naturally, we decided to check it out.
Chef Derek Clough created a fall harvest lunch menu which includes both hot and cold items along with seasonal sides. My choice which seemed to be a popular item for many that day was the Reuben panini.
This was one of the better panini's I have had in a long time. Compact and loaded with their house made pastrami. Easy to the bite and having very little breading with more meat along with everything else the way it should be made. The house made chips didn't hurt the deliciousness quotient either.
There was plenty of roast beef piled onto the bread and it also had cheddar, tomato, pickled onions, lettuce, and horseradish sauce. My wife really enjoyed the pickled onions with the sauce and deemed it very good.
We were so pleased to have stumbled onto this gem and we already have plans to return for dinner. Our assumption is that many on the seacoast are already aware of the bistro but for those outside of the area our guess is that you probably didn't even know the restaurant existed. Do yourself a favor and visit the Applecrest Farm Bistro open year round and serving breakfast, lunch and dinner.
