Polly's Pancake Parlor improves after renovations

It’s been a couple of years since our last visit to Polly's Pancake Parlor in Sugar Hill. We decided that too much time had passed and headed to Polly’s to enjoy both the breakfast and some of the best foliage we’ve had in years.

Polly’s underwent a major renovation and they celebrated their grand reopening in May of 2015. The old small building couldn't handle the mobs of customers so they tore it down. Now, you will find a much larger dining room and a large parking lot outside. The noise level has also been reduced considerably and family style seating is out as well. Good news for those who don't like eating with strangers so all and all it’s a more pleasant experience.

In terms of the food there is not much else to say. After all, they are not called “Polly’s Scrambled Eggs Parlor” so unless you absolutely dislike pancakes you should order those. Choose a batter whether it be plain, buckwheat, whole wheat, cornmeal or oatmeal buttermilk and then you can add on with either blueberry, coconut, chocolate chip or walnut. Make sure you get some of their delicious bacon along the way.

Please remember to have patience with the staff. In the fall and on weekends they are extremely busy and the wait can be in excess of two-three hours.. Yes, this can be frustrating but it is a matter of demand and there is nothing the hostess can do about it. They don't take reservations but you can call ahead (603)823-5575 ext 16 an hour out and put your name on the wait list. The servers here also cook the pancakes for their own tables and the process although a bit strange works for them and their customers.

So with the new renovations Polly's Pancake Parlor is much improved on what was already a great place for pancakes. Anyone traveling in the area should definitely stop in to see for yourself.
