Give Gourmet Bites A Try

On the main road (Broadway) in Salem sits a restaurant that we never knew existed. Gourmet Bites can be found in a small plaza and, if you are not looking carefully, can be easily missed.

Initially thinking this was only a catering business, we did some investigation and found out that they serve breakfast and lunch. The interior is small with a smattering of tables and a desk that is assumed to be the owners.

Once seated, our waitress brought over what is their breakfast appetizer, baked pita chips that are dusted with cinnamon and sugar. These are served with a yogurt dip.

We were on the fence on this one and unsure until that first bite. That said, the batch was almost completely finished by the time we left which is a positive.

Our breakfast items arrived a little later and mine was the bacon, egg and cheese panini on challah bread.

The softer inner consistency went nicely with the crunchiness of the challah.

My better half had the Australian omelette that included broccoli, spinach and mozzarella.

She enjoyed this because it wasn't watery which can sometimes happen with vegetables inside.

Overall we had a pleasant experience at Gourmet Bites. If you are in a hurry and prefer not to wait a long time for breakfast at Maddie's this is an option. Drive down the road about a 1/4 mile, turn left and let us know what you think.

Gourmet Bites also offers a full catering menu.
