Exeter’s Capital Thai To Open Jen Ju Boba Tea In Newburyport, MA

The Capital Thai Restaurant and Bar in Exeter is branching out with a new shop, Jen Ju Boba Tea is coming soon to Newburyport, MA at 12 State Street.

Their menu will focus on beverages and not food. They are planning to have milk teas, T-pumps. smoothies, and specialty drinks. The name Jen Ju apparently means pearl in Mandarin.

For anyone who is not familiar, boba or bubble tea has become extremely popular in the United States. A Taiwanese cold beverage, it usually contains tea, milk, and tapioca balls.

We thought this news would be of interest to fellow Granite Staters for the NH connection and location.  Newburyport is a beautiful spot with many cute shops, boat rides, and a pretty walk along the water.  Just a half-hour from Portsmouth, it is a nice quick trip for anyone who lives on the seacoast.

Capital Thai started service at 97 Water Street in May of 2018.  Our thinking is that the dining establishment has been a welcome addition to Exeter.  They have done well in a market that is continually adding new restaurants.

They hope to open Jen Ju Boba Tea sometime towards the end of August. We wish them well with their expansion into Massachusetts.
