Hannah's Bakery And Cafe Is On The Way To Salem

Hannah Matte began Hannah’s Sweet Tooth at the age of 14 because she loved baking and has since blossomed into a career.  With a degree from Johnson and Wales University in Rhode Island, she started a business out of her house but always dreamed of opening a storefront bakery and cafe. It looks like her dream is about to become a reality in Salem, NH.

Ms. Matte has selected a 2,364 square foot space at 401 Main Street for her 23 seat restaurant.   Apparently, the property previously had a karate studio and tanning salon and a change of use would require the approval of the town planning board.   Hannah sought out the help of GPI consulting to create a plan for approval.

David Jordan from GPI presented at the July 23rd planning board meeting. It appears that having enough parking is a common issue with change of use requests involving restaurants. They had already verified that the current number of spaces was sufficient for this project.  It is our understanding that the board voted unanimously to grant conditional approval.

With that news, Ms. Matte has taken a major step towards an exciting reality.  Hannah’s Bakery and Cafe is hoping to open in September.
