Having sampled the fabulous micro brews from their onsite brewery at other restaurants that gave me cause to recommend them for the beer alone. I started this visit with a sample of the Iron Mike Pale Ale that was lighter in taste and a best fit for the warmer weather. Next in contrast, was the Scotties IPA that was smoother than the first but not overpowering. Either way, beer aficionados should try a sample when they have opportunity.
The food by Chef Scott Ross is basic pub stuff with hamburgers, sandwiches, sliders, wood fired pizza and smoked meats among the many choices. Given that we do enjoy decent BBQ and they have smokehouse in their name this seemed to be the smart direction on the menu and the brisket was the logical and safe pick for us.
Served with cole slaw, garlic mashed and smothered in their BBQ sauce it was what we expected. The meat was tender with a slight garlic flavor. The slaw had very little dressing and a strong bite more like sauerkraut which we enjoyed.
One of their more popular starters the cheese sauce is made with Matilda's red rage ale. They were hot and salty. We would order these again.
Visit Moat Mountain Smokehouse and Brewery for the beer and decent pub food.
