The Best Soups At Collins Brothers Chowder

After a warm start to fall, cooler temperatures have finally arrived. Bone chilling weather is right around the corner and nothing is better this time of year than a piping hot bowl of soup. But where to go for something homemade and not out of a can? Collins Brothers Chowder in Nashua is the place.

A small hole in the wall, the brothers focus on what they do best, soups and chowders. You will find no dining room or tables inside. Just a front counter where orders are taken, a list of offerings on a board along with a refrigerator with take-out items on the right.

There are several of the same soups offered daily and a few specials. On the first Wednesday of the month you can get their haddock chowder but arrive early because they run out fast. A couple of grab and go options are also available such as pot roast and sheppard’s pie.

First up, a special of the day, stuffed pepper soup.

Filled with chunks of hamburger, peppers, rice and plum tomatoes in a slightly spicy broth we would definitely get this again.

Next, broccoli and cheddar.

This was packed with broccoli and had a nice mild cheese flavor in a semi thick liquid.

We found the staff to be pleasant and helpful based on our short time inside. Upon observation many of their customers appear to be regulars and one walked out with a box containing several soups. This is no surprise to us given their quality product.

NH Reviews gives Collins Brothers Chowder our approval and is recommended. They are open from September to May on Wednesday, 10 am to 3 pm, Thursday and Friday, 10 am to 5 pm and Saturday from 10 am to 2 pm.
