Heritage Best New Addition To Derry Dining Scene

When the Heritage Restaurant moved into the old How’s Your Onion space in Derry, I didn’t think much of it only that we weren't upset to see that Onion had closed. Now, many months later NH Reviews wondered how the new kid in town was doing and ventured over to find out.

Upon entry, the décor has been upgraded nicely. Soft lighting from low hanging lamps gives a relaxed mood to the inside. From our booth, a candle flickered gently on our table where more of the same around us provides an inviting atmosphere for their guests. In the back, a small bar awaits with pleasant conversation and libations.

The menu is highlighted by one of their most popular dishes, the pistachio chicken, which did not disappoint. Easy on the taste buds, this had a light coating and was served with a half sweet potato and broccoli.

Not to be outdone, next would be medallions of tender beef, cooked medium well. This came with mashed potatoes and the same broccoli.

Included with the entrees, our salads were made extraordinary by the addition of a chili dressing. Slightly sweet a nice change from the typical options at most dining establishments.

In the beginning, crab cakes as a starter there were two all meat covered with a rémoulade.  These have become a popular item at many restaurants and their version should do well.

Desserts are all homemade and found on their portable chalkboard.

The flourless chocolate cake was our smart pick. A gluten-free speculator, this was warm and dense.

Parking is a challenge and this we all have been aware of when visiting. Pull all the way forward into a space and drive carefully.

The Heritage Restaurant seems to be doing just fine since taking over this space. The atmosphere, food and general feel are all a welcome addition for their guests in the greater Derry area.

They are open Tuesday to Saturday from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Happy hour from 3:00 pm 5:00 pm daily extended to 9:00 pm during the week.
