Word on the street is that a new brewery and taproom is in the works for Portsmouth, Temperate Habits Brewing.
It is our understanding that owners Brooke and Katie, two pharmacists have teamed up and hatched a plan to open a brewery. They have been testing out different beers and taking classes to learn the tricks of the trade.
Because new restaurants have significant start-up costs, the owners conducted a fundraiser earlier this year to help bring in capital. Funding like this would help them pay for equipment such as a Stout Tanks brewing system that they put a down payment on earlier this year.
Now, the proprietors appear ready to begin and needed to find a space for the brewery. Their plans have been finalized and the location is 2800 Lafayette Road in Portsmouth.
What can you expect to find at Temperate Habits? Bourbon barrel furniture will be a focus. And on the beer, they are at work trying to figure out the best options. You might find a Hefeweizen, Pilsner or blood orange Belgian Whit on the menu. The food apparently has several wonderful hot dog versions including on the run from Johnny slaw and bratty dog along with waffles for dessert.
